Facing technical issues with tech gadgets is very common. So if you are facing the connectivity issue with the Orbi like Orbi not detecting satellite, then don’t worry as you are not alone. This is a very common issue and is often resolvable. Therefore, in this guide users can easily find the solution to this common problem. And by the end of it we assure the issue will be resolved and users would be easily able to use the Orbi satellite perfectly.
Start By Checking Power
Electrical supply is essential for almost all the networking devices. Therefore the Orbi satellite is no different. So make sure the electrical outlet has a constant supply of electrical power. For this try using the power outlet that has a direct connection to the inverter. So in case of power cut the Orbi satellite doesn’t fail to provide the extended coverage.
Moving further, use the right power adapter if you do not want to face the issue of Orbi not detecting satellite. Inside the package contents of your Orbi, there is a dedicated power adapter for each satellite. Use the same for avoiding any technical issues. As and when you turn on the satellite, check the LED lights. It should be bright and all lit up. If it isn’t then this means there is an issue with the power port or the adaptor. Try changing both.
Ensure Correct Placement Of The Satellite
Incorrect placement of the Orbi satellite is one of the most common reasons why users face the issue of Orbi not detecting satellite. Here are some expert recommendations on how users should place the Orbi satellite strategically.
- Firstly, place the satellite within the range of the Orbi router.
- Next, avoid its placement in between thick concrete or mirror walls. As this placement won’t allow the signals to travel freely.
- Moving further, avoid placing any electrical or metal items in the close premises of the satellite. The common devices are microwave, fish tanks, security cameras, cordless phones, refrigerator, baby monitors, bluetooth devices and much more. These devices tend to absorb the wifi signals, thus the other places of your abode turn into a dead zone.
- Next, place the Orbi satellite in an open and well ventilated space. Do not place it inside a box or in corners. Rather place it on a higher surface like table top or shelves.
Consider all these placement strategies and get rid of the Orbi not detecting satellite issues.

Restart The Devices
Sometimes just simple restarting of the Orbi satellite, Orbi router as well as the modem can easily resolve the detection issue. For restarting the device, first withdraw the electrical supply. To do so unplug the power adapters from the power port. Now hold on for about 30 seconds or a minute. Moving forward, reconnect and turn on each device. Now check whether the Orbi not detecting satellite issues is still prevailing or not. If the issue persists check out the next troubleshooting point.
