How To Setup Orbi Satellite?

We understand how frustrating slow wifi speeds, sudden connection drop or intermittent connection can be. It not only affects the networking experience but also creates unnecessary ruckus in the middle of something important. This is where addition of Orbi satellites to your existing network can work wonders. When you add a satellite to your Orbi router, you get to extend wireless signals to a more carpet area, basically you successfully get to eradicate all dead zones. So in this particular post we’ll tell you about how to setup Orbi satellite. With no further delay, let’s discuss the same.

Step 1: Preparation And App Downloading

First of all unbox and collect the basic components. You need Orbi satellite, its power adapter, access to a well working power outlet and a smart device which can be anything from laptop to a cellphone.

Now take your smart device. Visit its Play/App Store. Look for the Orbi App. Upon finding, tap on Install/Get.

In addition to it, ensure your Orbi router is active and all configured.

Step 2: Strategic Satellite Placement

Right placement of the Orbi satellite is extremely important for strong connection. So you must place the satellite within the reach of the main Orbi router or other Orbi satellite. Try finding a middle spot between the router and the area with poor or no wifi connectivity.

Do not plot the satellite nearby to metal objects, electrical items, thick concrete walls, inside a closed box, in a corner or behind any object like curtains or furniture.

Step 3: Activate The Satellite

Now as you finalize the placement spot for the Orbi satellite, fetch its power adapter. Move its power pin into the satellite and then move the adaptor into the well working power socket. With that press the power button. The satellite will activate and will start its booting process. Wait for its LED indicator to turn stable. This means the satellite is ready to sync.

Step 4: Sync The Satellite

Now there are two ways through which you can sync the satellite to the Orbi router. One method is simple which requires use of the sync button. The other one will make use of the Orbi app.

  • Using Orbi App

First on your networked device, open the Orbi App. Thereafter tap on the Add Satellite option or Set Up New System if prompted. Now all you have to do is follow the on-screen steps. The app will detect your new satellite and will guide you through pairing.

  • Using Sync Button

This is the manual method for how to setup Orbi satellite. So for this method these are the steps that you need to follow:

First up, locate the Sync button, it is usually there at the back panel of the satellite and press it. The LED ring will start blinking white. Now without exceeding 120 seconds you have to locate as well as press the Sync button on the Orbi router. Once done, wait for the synchronisation to complete. The satellite’s LED ring will pulse or change colors as it tries to connect. This can take several minutes. But once the sync is successful, the LED will turn blue.

But if the satellite’s LED is showing a magenta color then it means the syncing process has failed. So you now need to move the satellite closer to the Orbi router.

Once everything is done, take a stroll to the area which previously didn’t have connectivity and check the status now. You would definitely be receiving high wifi speeds and uninterrupted connectivity.
